Forum One and CDC Launch the CDC Flu App Challenge

Printer-friendly version

CDC Flu App logoForum One is no stranger to app competitions (we’ve been fortunate to join and win competitions in the past, including Design for AmericaApps for America, and Apps for America 2). This time, however, we are issuing a challenge to you. We have teamed up with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to bring you the CDC Flu App Challenge!

The contest offers $35,000 in prizes for the most innovative apps that use CDC flu data to create a technical solution that promotes healthy behavior for flu prevention. The Flu App Challenge is open for submissions through May 27. CDC will announce the winners on June 8.

We have an exciting panel of judges for the contest including Forum One Chairman, Jim Cashel; Mark Smolinski, Director of Global Health Threats at the Skoll Global Threats Fund; Peter Speyer, Director of Data Development at the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME); Maureen S. Marshall, Health Communications Specialist, National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, CDC; and Fred Smith, Technology Team Lead, Electronic Media Branch at the CDC.

There is about a month and half left to construct the winning app! Whether you are a developer yourself, or know someone who is, we encourage you to visit fluapp.challenge.gov and spread the word about this great opportunity. Have some fun, educate the country about flu, and maybe win a prize!
