Capital Camp — the DC Drupal Camp — is coming up next week, July 22–23, at the Marvin Center.
Forum One will not only be there to learn, but also to teach. Although it's sold out now, if you have tickets, you can expect the best in local Drupal talent for two days of learning and collaboration.
In case you don't know, Drupal is one of the most popular open-source content management systems (CMS). Sony Music Entertainment and Amnesty International use it. The White House and House of Representatives may not agree on the budget, but they can agree on one thing — they both use Drupal.
Capital Camp is a chance for the Drupal designer and developer communities to get together and compare notes, exchange ideas, and get to know each other. It's also a great chance for any organization thinking about adapting a new CMS to get the most up-to-date information about Drupal. Forum One is proud to be sponsoring Capital Camp this year, as well as providing two of the event speakers.
- Agile Development with Scrum - Many organizations including government agencies, may be reluctant to adopt Scrum. The goal of this session is to provide an introduction to Scrum and discuss how the process' focus on transparency and whole-team accountability enhance reliability, quality and safety.
- Crafting Great User Stories - User stories are at the heart of Scrum and several other Agile methodologies. Creating good user stories, however, can be challenging, especially for those new to the process. This session will explore how to write user stories to express requirements.
I'll be presenting a session on one of my favorite topics, CSS3, to help Drupal designers and developers begin to use this great new technology to create better looking, and better performing, designs:
- CSS3 is Here! Are You? - It's 2011. Why are you still designing static web pages? Photoshop is not the reality of the interactive web, but many designers still act as if their job is done after the page is loaded in the browser. That, however, is only the beginning. Learn how to design interactive Web pages leveraging the new CSS3 technologies that allow designers to quickly add animations, transitions, gradients, alpha channels, and a variety of static and interactive design styles to their web pages.
If you make it to Capital Camp, we hope to see you at our sessions. Feel free to talk with us with any questions you have afterwards. Also we will be recruiting, so stop by if any of our careers interest you.
