US EPA eeBuildings

Challenge

Develop communications and technology services to support the United States Environmental Protection Agency's (US EPA) work with building owners, managers, and tenants working to improve the energy efficiency of their buildings in developing countries.

Forum One Solution

Forum One Communications began working with EPA at the inception of the eeBuildings program, and continues to provide strategic and technical support. In particular we've done the following:

  • Conducted strategic planning exercises to identify potential uses of technology to strengthen EPA operations, and prioritized a set of outreach tools and online services to implement.
  • Developed information architecture and visual design for the eeBuildings site in compliance with EPA Web requirements.
  • Implemented the top-priority services, which included a powerful central online database of program information, a basic public “brochure” Web site that draws from the database and a very successful private-access extranet that EPA and contractor staff use to coordinate, store data, and manage the content on the public Web site.
  • Provide hosting for these services and ongoing support to EPA’s eeBuildings program, including implementation of additional online tools.

We’re pleased to have helped EPA enhance coordination and information management among international project team staff. In addition, we’ve helped improve program visibility for staff working in the field to recruit program partners.
