News ReleaseOver $1B for Advance Market CommitmentsFebruary 7, 2007 The Financial Times reports that "Four countries, led by Italy, are expected to announce support totalling more than $1bn on Friday for a pioneering finance mechanism to stimulate the development of new drugs and vaccines for the developing world." This announcement represents an important accomplishment for global health led by Forum One client, the Center for Global Development. "Advance Market Commitments"(AMC) will help patch a hole in the economics of global health. Currently limited research is invested into many serious developing country diseases because there is a limited market for resulting products. AMC will help guarantee a market for effective products, thus encouraging R&D. Forum One has worked with the Center for Global Development for the past two years to promote the AMC concept online. Forum One also designed and developed a web site to promote knowledge and understanding of this commitment for The GAVI Alliance in February, 2007. Contact |
