Our Work

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) is the largest philanthropic organization devoted exclusively to improving the health and health care of Americans. The foundation supports hundreds of important programs that tackle challenges such as improving hospital quality, reversing childhood obesity, solving nursing shortages, and extending health care coverage to all Americans. All these programs require a rich online presence to spread the reach of their research, increase the visibility of their experts, and foster online community and collaboration.

Since 2008, Forum One has helped the foundation design and launch 15 separate sites using the Drupal open-source content management system. Drupal provides an easy interface for entering, categorizing, and publishing web content, and we have trained dozens of program staff on its use. In addition, we helped enable cross-foundation collaboration and communication so that various projects can share content and services across sites, including metric reporting systems and content syndication. For example, RWJF's CovertheUninsured.org sends and receives publications and news from other foundation sites. When new stories are published on the external site, they automatically also appear in CovertheUninsured's editorial queue in an unpublished state. An editor can log into Drupal and review each story prior to re-publication. This coordinated approach has simplified content management, strengthened the foundation's brand, and substantially extended its ability to reach its key audiences.
