Betsy Burroughs Betsy Burroughs is president of FutureCatalyst, a marketing consultancy. She has over 25 years experience in marketing, advertising, sales and publishing at ad agencies Foote, Cone & Belding, D’Arcy-McManus Benton & Bowles and BBDO. She has also held VP marketing and VP business development positions at major high-tech media, Internet companies and “New Work” pioneer, Gate 3 WorkClub. Anne Marie Edwards Anne Marie Edwards is a senior manager of Y! Network Division Marketing. Anne works across Yahoo! products to drive go-to-market strategies, primarily for the 18-24 audience. Since joining Yahoo! in 2005, Anne has worked on product launch teams, such Yahoo! Answers, audience campaign strategy and new development projects with various Yahoo! team. Before joining Yahoo!, Anne worked in international marketing for MD Beauty/Bare Escentuals, market research at the San Francisco Chronicle and media strategy at Starcom Worldwide. Anne holds an MBA from the Haas School of Business at University of California-Berkeley, a BS in Advertising and a BA in English from the University of Texas at Austin. Mary Furlong With more than 20 years’ experience, Dr. Furlong is the leading authority on the baby boomer generation as it moves toward and beyond 60. She founded Mary Furlong & Associates (MFA) in 2003 to help socially-conscious, consumer-conscious companies understand the real needs of this growing market. MFA offers business development services, strategic solutions, traditional and digital public relations and value-added marketing services to clients serving the boomer and senior marketplace. In addition, she is the Dean’s Executive Professor of Entrepreneurship at the Leavey School of Business at the Santa Clara University, Santa Clara, California. Before launching Mary Furlong & Associates, Dr. Furlong founded the nonprofit organization SeniorNet in 1986 and Third Age Media in 1996. Throughout the course of her work for both organizations, she raised $120 million in venture capital funds. SeniorNet served over 500,000 adults 50%20. Much time was spent in the field at the 100 learning centers (now 250), observing the applications that worked and the issues related to the technology. ThirdAge reached over 2 million members when Dr. Furlong served as the CEO and the visionary leader of the editorial team. Dr. Furlong has guided the online and offline marketing strategies for major U. S. corporations for their 45%20 age markets for over 20 years. The list of clients extends deep into the Fortune 50: IBM, J&J, Merrill Lynch, Viacom (CBS), Advance Publications, P&G, Microsoft, and the regional Bell operating companies, and beyond to include the U.S. Senate and AARP. Dr. Furlong has appeared on CBS, the “Today” show, PBS and NPR to discuss issues related to trends in aging and technology. Dr. Furlong has also authored several books, including Grown-Up's Guide to Computing published by Microsoft Press. Her expertise has been the focus of numerous articles appearing in such publications as The New York Times, USA Today, People Magazine, Fast Company, Fortune and Business Week. With the American Society on Aging, Dr. Furlong co-produced the successful 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007 What’s Next Boomer Business Summits in San Francisco, Philadelphia, Anaheim and Chicago respectively. She acted as the executive producer for the 2005, 2006 and 2007 Silicon Valley Boomer Venture Summits & Boomer Business Plan Competitions. She is a member of the Leadership Council of the American Society on Aging’s Business Forum on Aging and serves on several corporate advisory boards. Dr. Furlong was a delegate for the 1995 White House Conference on Aging (WHCoA) as well as the 2005 White House Conference on Aging. She was the keynote speaker at the Arkansas Governor's Conference on Aging and briefed the California WHCoA delegates on the topic of the Business Marketplace. She is an advisor to a select group of venture backed companies: Lusora, Posit Science Corporation, Les Concierges, all focusing on the lucrative boomer market. She is a member of the Leadership Council of the National Council on Aging. She is a member of the American Society on Aging's Business Forum on Aging.
Marcien Jenckes, SVP of Messaging, Community, Voice, oversees AOL's community products, including the AIM® and ICQ® branded services, which are at the center of one of the largest and most dynamic online and mobile communities worldwide. Prior to this role, Marcien was responsible for launching AOL's free web services by overseeing the design, development and programming of the AOL network, including the launch of the free AOL.com portal, AOL’s Welcome Screen, My AOL, AOL's Video Hub and other web properties that attract more than 100 million monthly visitors. Before coming to AOL, Marcien worked at McKinsey & Company in Washington, DC and was a member of their Media and Technology practice. During his time at McKinsey, he managed engagements focused on new businesses and technologies, including the creation of an international mobile portal, consumer facing financial services platforms, and new web technologies. Marcien holds an MBA from the Darden School at the University of Virginia, and a BA in Economics and Political Science from New York University.
Michael Leifer Michael Leifer is an expert at Social Media and non-traditional marketing, a Cultural Anthropologist, the Founder and CEO of guerilla PR, Inc., and co-Founder of PopSmack a marketing ambassador platform company. Prior to creating guerilla, Leifer was the CEO of the successful C3Live, a webcasting and syndication company that worked with A-list celebrities, MTV film crews, and did deals with Yahoo! and Windows Media. An MMO enthusiast since 1996, Rich is a consistent advocate of new and creative ways to engage and support the online gaming community, as well as being a proponent of Community Relations as a distinct discipline within the gaming industry. At NCsoft, Rich managed the Community Relations teams for City of Heroes, City of Villains, Lineage, Lineage II, Tabula Rasa, PlayNC and Auto Assault. Rich has also served as Director of Community Relations and Support at Kaneva, a virtual world and social networking company in Atlanta, Georgia.
