Project Director

You may not have heard of "Submarine Supernova," but it was Brian's first case study in the power of the web. He and a friend wrote and posted the song parody online in 1996. (It involves Oasis, the Beatles, and is probably too complicated to explain here.) They got such a positive response from people who came across it that they entered it into a contest held by Weird Al Yankovic. They won.

Fast forward, and Brian is still creatively using the web and making music. As senior project manager at Forum One, he supports high-impact projects for foundations, government, and nonprofits, ensuring deliverables stay on schedule and on budget. He also develops web strategies that leverage organizational strengths, empower staff, and enable groups to focus their energies on fulfilling their missions.

Brian holds a B.A. in journalism and political science from the University of Richmond, where he served as editor-in-chief of the student newspaper, and an M.A. in communication, culture & technology from Georgetown. He wrote his thesis on the political media habits of youth voters, focusing on the 2004 presidential election, and conducted additional research for the Pew Charitable Trusts' New Voters Project. He also interned at the Center for American Progress.

As for the music side, Brian performed with a band while living in Richmond and gigs around the D.C. area. He writes many of the songs he performs.

You may not know: You can catch Brian on stage at many local venues, including Vermilion and the Evening Star.

His RSS feeds include: Lifehacker, The Full Pint, and the Users' Guide to the Health Reform Galaxy
