John is an information architect and is also Forum One’s resident bear whisperer. That’s right, he once came face to face with a ferocious black bear in Colorado and was able to talk the bear out of attacking him by using storytelling and audience discovery techniques. Well, maybe that’s not exactly how it went. But however it happened, John and the bear came to some kind of understanding, and John is now cool as a cucumber in high-stress situations. Next time a bear makes its way to our Alexandria office, we have nothing to worry about.
John has a master of science in library and information studies from Florida State University and spent time as a Virginia Tech Hokie, where he received a bachelor’s degree in communications. Before joining Forum One, he was an information architect at SRA International, where he promoted the user experience for various clients, including the EPA and Energy Star. He also worked in digital media at National Geographic.
As an information architect at Forum One, John draws on his background to develop optimal user experiences for his clients' target audiences. He leverages his knowledge of web media principles and information technology, in combination with his understanding of client specifications and project end-goals, to guide the look and feel of online projects.
John spent time in a small village in Mali as a Peace Corps volunteer. He confirmed the saying that it was, in fact, the “hardest job I’ve ever loved.” He has traveled in every continent except Antarctica and Australia, as well as extensively throughout the U.S. He once drove from California to Virginia in three days.
