Marcus is no stranger to the heat. He grew up in sweltering West Palm Beach, Florida, visits family in the Bahamas frequently, and his favorite team is, you guessed it, the Miami Heat.
Marcus earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering at Florida State University, a path he pursued as a result of, among other successes, a champion performance in his high school’s annual egg drop competition. His victory consisted of a foam plate, drinking straws, cotton balls, and notebook paper. He had a vision of a sturdy and effective product, and he executed to make that vision a reality. (All the while preventing another yolky mess for the janitor to clean up).
Marcus brings to Forum One the same kind of vision and execution skills that led to his egg-dropping victory. Here, he must delicately coordinate and execute a vision for innovative, effective web projects. He has his hands in every part of our process, from organizational and stakeholder research, target audience analysis, and functional requirements definition, to business objectives identification, web analytics, platform evaluation and selection, and usability design.
As an independent consultant, Marcus developed projects on open-source CMS platforms like WordPress and Drupal. His particular interest is around collaborative networks and custom web applications that create support for social issues. He has also worked in the nonprofit sector, serving as a grant manager with a national anti-hunger organization and, as a volunteer, raising money for the Martin Luther King monument being built on the National Mall.
Marcus has mentored youth for over 11 years through volunteer programs and is now stepmaster of a youth team. In his spare time, he feeds his ESPN addiction and plays a bit of pick-up basketball and football.
You may not know: He can let you in on where to get the best crack conch in all of Nassau--the Twin Brothers restaurant down at the Fish Fry.
