Web Developer

It all started with BASIC. Growing up in Jamaica and in South Central Los Angeles, Norman discovered an affinity for computer programming in middle school. As he says, the rest is history. He interned in Citigroup's Information Management Department, which cemented his decision to major in a computer-related field in college. He graduated with a B.S. in information systems, with a concentration in communication design, from Carnegie Mellon University. While still seniors, he and three classmates built Servicebook.org, a web site to promote service learning subsequently funded by the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Foundation.

Norman is not fazed by the technical "challenges" that come his way. He spends his days (and sometimes evenings) wrangling application code. First coming to Forum One as an intern in the summer of 2007, he returned to work for us full-time after graduation. He was the workhorse behind LegiStalker and DataMasher, two award-winning applications produced by Forum One, helping to program both in less than a month. He has also developed interactive applications for the International Development Research Centre, Center for Global Development, and National Environmental Education Foundation.

Norman still savors the Jamaican food of his childhood (especially if it has coconut in it). He loves to draw and enter into the online World of Warcraft.

What you may not know: Despite his major geek credentials, he did not own a computer until the year 2000.
