Stein was born in Norway, lived in Japan, and now calls Seattle home. He caught the programming bug early, when his third-grade teacher showed the class the wonders of Logo on an Apple IIe. A few programming languages later, he has built and run an online community for expat teachers in Japan, developed educational tools, and provided Drupal advice to companies on three continents.
As a senior web programmer at Forum One, Stein delivers technical solutions for our clients that satisfy their business objectives within the constraints they and their project managers have identified.
Stein has a B.A. in the comparative history of ideas from the University of Washington. After graduation, he moved to Japan, where he spent six years as an English teacher, then three as a full-time Drupal developer running his own business. He returned to the States in 2010.
Stein’s teaching skills run the gamut, whether explaining technical concepts to non-techies, English to Japanese students, or skiing to his best friend in high school. A public radio aficionado (“Wait, Wait, Don’t Tell Me” is a particular favorite), he also keeps sharp by reading about history and playing Ultimate Frisbee.
You may not know: He either loves or loathes green-colored food: He can’t get enough of avocados and green-tea ice cream, but he hates peas.
