Government Sales Executive

We are in need of an experienced government sales executive who can hit the ground running. In this role, you will work to win new work with Federal, state, and local government agencies. You will be responsible for generating new business, identifying and articulating a sales strategy, delivering effective presentations, and advising government agencies on their digital communications strategies and tactics.

You bring previous experience in government sales, especially at the state level, and a good understanding of web technologies and digital communications. You are tenacious about finding new work. Ideally, you have a Rolodex of existing government contacts.


What you’ll do:

  • Lead Forum One’s acquisition of new work in the Federal, State and Local government arenas
  • Work to find new government work for Forum One in a variety of ways including through existing clients, through your existing network, reviewing RFPs, working with technology partners & through strategic relationships
  • Develop and execute a targeted business development plan to sell digital services to government agencies including campaign planning and execution, and related technologies, such as user experience, data visualization and website design and development.
  • Vet RFPs to determine if they are a good match for our capabilities
  • Identify strategic partners to prime or sub work to
  • Determine which state and localities to focus business development efforts
  • Keep track of trends in technology and communications
  • Create winning proposals by coming up with a broad vision, win themes & assist in proposal writing

What you bring to the table:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Experience selling technology and/or communications products
  • 5 + years selling digital consulting engagements with government agencies including leading the identification, qualification, pursuit, proposal development and capture of opportunities – State and Local sales experience a plus
  • Expertise as a strategic advisor with experience overseeing a portfolio of active client accounts, ensuring high quality work, exceptional client satisfaction and strong financial performance.
  • Understanding and experience with government agencies who work with issues of importance. In particular, experience with groups who work in Forum One’s target sectors is relevant: Education Policy, Environmental Policy, Global Health, Health Care and Health Policy, and International Development.
  • Sales experience to state and local governments a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including ability to actively listen, read audiences, and quickly identify key issues and areas of need.
