Webby Talk

Everything You Think Is True: How the Internet has fragmented our collective reality and why that’s not (entirely) a bad thing.

Thursday, January 10th, 8.45-10.00
Forum One
1110 Vermont Ave NW, Suite 500, Washington, DC

A light breakfast will be served.

Forum One is pleased to host a 2019 Webby Talk on January 10th at our Washington DC office. We will be joined by Steve Marchese, Executive Producer at the Webby Media Group, who will talk about the positive and negative impacts of granting the Internet the power to shape each and every individual’s perception of reality; and how the same tools that are making it harder to tell fact from fiction also hold the keys to a future where “reality” adapts to meet individual needs—from voice-enabled companionship to specialized education through AR, VR-based therapies, and far beyond.

Steve will give insight into the Webby Awards’ unique view into the ever-changing landscape of what’s happening online, highlighting some of the most interesting trends and innovative work on the Internet. The presentation will run for 30-45 minutes and is based on research from more than 13,000 entries into last year’s Webby Awards, and a recent survey of 2,000 Americans.

The Webby Awards is the leading international award honoring excellence on the Internet. The Webbys is presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS), which is comprised of leading Web experts, business figures, luminaries, visionaries and creative celebrities. Forum One was awarded the Webby Award and People’s Voice Award in 2017 for our design of the inaugural website of the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture.
