Grameen Foundation

Founded in 1997, the Grameen Foundation champions innovative and sustainable solutions to fight global poverty and hunger. The foundation is inspired by the work of Nobel Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus, founder of Grameen Bank and a global leader in ending poverty. Grameen works with with local partners to connect and equip families, women, and farmers with resources to expand their financial inclusion, increase their resilience, and improve their health and livelihoods.

Grameen enlisted Forum One to redesign its web presence to better reflect its identity and the scope of its impact, and to more effectively communicate the personal stories behind its work. Forum One’s design team worked with Grameen to refresh the site’s visuals in line with these goals, successfully delivering a revamped design on a quick timeline with a limited budget. We also helped Grameen select a trusted partner, Cellar Door Media, to translate our designs into front-end code.

Building a Future-Ready Brand

We kicked off the project with a discovery session with Grameen stakeholders to understand their target audiences, existing branding, and the goals they wanted to achieve with the new design – one of which was setting the stage for Grameen’s upcoming merger with Freedom from Hunger. Our creative team then took the insights we learned to develop two concept directions. Grameen selected their favorite to refine, and we set to work designing new site pages.

Designed to Inspire Action

Our design refresh included a bold, colorful, easy-to-navigate homepage, with a revamped sitewide header and footer that highlight opportunities for users to donate and sign up for Grameen’s newsletter. We redesigned the “Donate Now” page to be more user-friendly, modernizing the look and feel of the form while maintaining Grameen’s integration with its third-party donation engine.

An Engaging Experience through Visual Storytelling

Our team set Grameen up with on-brand design templates for refreshed Navigation pagesDetail pages, and interior sub-detail pages that help users quickly and easily find what they need and explore Grameen’s most compelling content. This includes new, more engaging and immersive “Personal Stories.”  We also gave Grameen a comprehensive web style guide to carry a consistent design across the site going forward, giving them the flexibility to emphasize current priorities and share emerging stories.
