Revving up for DrupalCon in Baltimore!

It’s already time for the next DrupalCon! Forum One is as excited as ever to be sponsoring and speaking at this annual get together of the best minds in Drupal. Will we see you there?

Taking place close to home for the Forum One team, we are getting excited to head over to Baltimore for DrupalCon 2017 from April 24th-28th. As a sponsor of the Con, you’ll be seeing us here, there and everywhere… but to be more specific

We’ll be in the Exhibition area

Come by and say hello! We’ll be at booth #228 and we’re looking forward to either seeing you again or meeting you for the first time. If you’d like to set up a specific time to talk, just shoot us an email at and we’ll get something set up.

We’ll be training folks on Drupal 8 theming

Component based theming with Twig
Monday, April 24th, 9.00am-5.00pm

Chaz Chumley, Technology Manager, Forum One
Shawn Brackat, Front End Technical Architect, Forum One
Adam Juran, Senior Front End Developer, Forum One

While we have all read about, watched and even worked with Twig to create new themes in Drupal 8, the way we work with Twig has changed. Join us as we walk through the theming variations that started with the traditional theme-centric design and has quickly moved into component-based design.

Together we will master Component-based theming with Twig as we work to identify patterns, define components, utilize command line tools such as Composer, NPM and Grunt to quickly create a PatternLab managed theme. Learn how to work smarter in developing components that can easily be integrated into project after project without having to recreate yourself.

We’ll be speaking at the Nonprofit Summit

Changing the Face of Public Education: How Fairfax County is managing 195 websites with a Drupal 8 Platform
Monday, April 24th, exact time TBD

Nancy Moy, Fairfax County Public Schools
Cynthia Canelas, Forum One
Kurt Voelker, Forum One

The 10th largest school system in the country, Fairfax County Public Schools has 23,000 employees, serves 186,000 students, and 195 schools and centers. Beginning in late 2015 FCPS set out to replace the 200 individually managed websites with a single platform that would increase the quality, consistency, and management efficiency for those 200 websites. A year and half later and FCPS is now runs it’s ecosystem of websites on a Drupal 8 platform.

In this session we’ll have a candid conversation with the team responsible for making it happen about what worked, what didn’t, and what it’s like using Drupal 8 as platform for a large ecosystem of websites.

We’ll be presenting on Design Systems

Design Systems: Increase your Design Efficiency and Scalability
Thursday, April 27th, 1.00-1.30pm

Courtney Clark, Managing Director of User Experience, Forum One

Whether you’re on a large team or a small one, taking on a huge project or a one-page website, working with a design system can help make your project more efficient and infinitely scalable, Join us and we’ll show you how to set yourself and your team up for success!

We’ll explain how we used a robust design system when recently tackling an enormous user experience and design challenge: a website for a large, service-based government organization targeted at millennials, with stakeholders in over 60 countries. We’ll share our strategy, approach, and what we learned by the end.

Looking forward to seeing you there!
